Since our last map KE has not gone far, staying close to the Potomac River in King George County, VA. She was last on the Maryland side of the Potomac at Wellington Beach – YELLOW arrow Oct 3 at 9:00pm. She has not flown more than 20 miles from that location as these data points show – PINK pointer Oct 4 at 10:00pm King George County), GREEN pointer Oct 17 at 5:00pm (Stafford County), BLUE pointer Oct 12 at 7:00pm (King George landfill), ORANGE pointer Oct 16 at 5:00pm (Rappahannock River in Spotsylvania County), and as of this cell map WHITE arrow Oct 18 at 8:00pm – Caledon State Natural Area (http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/cal.shtml). Caledon is considered one of the principal concentration areas for bald eagles and is protected as such. It is normal for there to be 40 to 45 bald eagles gathered there, and on occasion as many as 80 bald eagles, so KE likely has lots of company. Click on maps to enlarge.
